Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin seeks a Pediatric Cardiac Heart Failure & Transplant Advanced Practice Provider to deliver comprehensive care to children with complex heart failure and post-heart transplant needs. In this full-time role within Healthcare & Medical Services, you will perform advanced assessments, manage evidence-based therapies, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and support pre- and post-transplant pathways.
You will engage in education, research, and quality improvement initiatives in an innovative, collaborative, and community-focused academic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric heart failure and heart transplant patients under physician collaboration.
- Manage pre- and post-transplant evaluations, follow-up, and chronic heart failure treatment plans.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care, including cardiology, surgery, nursing, social work, and allied health teams.
- Interpret clinical data, adjust evidence-based therapies, and participate in advanced device and transplant management.
- Educate patients, families, and trainees on heart failure, transplant care, and treatment adherence.
- Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, and program development initiatives at Dell Medical School.
- Contribute to call coverage, rounding, and procedural support as appropriate to scope of practice.
- Document care thoroughly in the EHR and support regulatory and transplant program requirements.
Required Skills
- Pediatric advanced practice assessment and diagnosis
- Pediatric heart failure and cardiomyopathy management
- Mechanical circulatory support and LVAD management
- Pre- and post-heart transplant management
- Echocardiography and cardiac imaging interpretation (basic)
- Inpatient and outpatient care coordination
- Electronic health record (EHR) documentation
- Patient and family education in complex cardiac disease
- Interdisciplinary care and care pathway development
- Clinical research and quality improvement methods
