The Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care is comprised of faculty in broad specialties (anesthesiology, transplant surgery, emergency medicine, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, plastic surgery and urology) with a focus on delivering outstanding care to the community.

The faculty member will be an integral part of the rapidly expanding urology practice at UT Health Austin, a part of UT Medicine, the clinical practice of Dell Medical School. The current urologic service is composed of two specialists in minimally invasive surgery / endourology, two urologist oncologists and one Male Sexual Health urologist.

The individual should have interest in developing an ambitious specialty-focused urology practice in which un-insured, under-insured patients, and fully insured patients all receive care in the same clinic. We see referrals from other urologists locally and regionally. Additionally, the applicant should have an interest in multidisciplinary complex pelvic reconstruction, as our primary inpatient facility is home to plastic surgeons, colorectal surgeons and gynecologists who collaborate with urologists in care of patients with challenging reconstruction needs.

Outpatient surgery is performed in the UT Heath Austin Ambulatory Surgery Center, a new state-of-the-art facility.

With regards to research, opportunities abound for collaborative research with faculty at The University of Texas h regards to teaching, medical students are frequently assigned to our service, and we host a urologic resident from the military program in San Antonio year-round.
