UTeach Senior Academic Program Coordinator

Purpose

To foster student success and engagement within the UTeach Program by leading strategic recruitment and retention initiatives, providing comprehensive academic advising across multiple degree paths, and managing scholarship processes. Through collaborative event planning, student organization advising, and targeted outreach, this role supports the development of future STEM educators and strengthens the UTeach community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage recruitment and retention strategies; supervise student employees; serve as advisor for the UTeach student organization, Math and Science Teachers of Tomorrow (MASTT); work with student organizations and faculty to present program information; survey students who do not continue; conduct classroom visits.
  • Advise students throughout the UTeach Program in multiple degree paths, maintaining knowledge of CNS and university-wide degree plans, audits, and registration procedures.
  • Coordinate scholarship lifecycle: marketing, application, selection, notification, processing, and thank‑you letters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years experience in program administration or coordination.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; confidence presenting to large audiences.
  • Experience creating compelling written and digital content for social media.
  • Strong ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and incorporating feedback.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude, and fast learning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Reliable and punctual, committed to outstanding customer service.
  • Relevant education and experience may substitute as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with student recruitment activities.

Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Some evening and weekend hours.
  • Typical office space; repetitive keyboard use.
  • Occasional lifting and moving boxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Office located on a floor with active teaching labs that contain biological and chemical hazards.

Employment Eligibility

Retirement Plan Eligibility

Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to position being at least 20 hours per week and 135 days in length.
