Job Description SummaryTo advise and implement success initiatives for high school students enrolled in ACC programs.
Responsibilities- Provide academic advising for high school students enrolled in ACC programs, including facilitating group advising sessions for maximum efficiency.
- Assist students with academic challenges such as obtaining Student Accessibility Services accommodations, academic struggles, counseling referrals (ACC Cares), career counseling, and supporting faculty needs (e.g., facility challenges, logistics, parking, technology).
- Respond to early alerts from professors and coordinate interventions with high school staff.
- Inform students of their Rights and Responsibilities and assist with ACC s Due Process.
- Manage the student, ISD and faculty complaint process and act as liaison for all stakeholders.
- Provide degree audit advising and answer transferability questions.
- Oversee implementation of midterm self-reporting, including assessment of progress, improvement plans, and advising adjustments as needed.
- Facilitate motivational, special and regional events such as senior surveys, field trips, career and transfer workshops, and mental wellness workshops.
- Monitor student success data to plan interventions, provide department feedback, and report to ISD Officials.
- Coordinate beginning-of-semester orientations for parents and faculty teaching College and High School Relations (CHSR) students at each high school.
- Facilitate workshops and student success events for students and college success training for high school personnel.
- Collaborate with independent school districts (ISD) and enrollment partners to refine curriculum/course sequencing for improved student success.
- Troubleshoot student registration issues with ISDs and enrollment partners; assist ISDs with Texas Success Initiative (TSI) prep and Summer Bridge activities.
- Analyze data for assigned students and schools to improve persistence and completion outcomes.
- Stay current with ACC advising notices, policies, updates, and training; review ACC advising materials for assigned schools.
- Identify non-CHSR seniors for ACC college advising and referral to Recruitment.
- Serve on internal and external committees that support the department s mission.
- Multitasking and meeting varying deadlines and timelines.
- Educational program planning, design, development, coordination, and implementation procedures.
- Student success best practices.
- Maintaining an established work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
- Preparing and posting website information.
- Analyzing complex information and implementing long-range and immediate plans.
- Working effectively with a multicultural student body and collaborating with others.
- Designing, implementing, measuring, and refining programs and services.
- Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
- Two years related work experience.
- Work experience in educational programs, college advising, or high school counseling.
- Bachelor s degree.
- Master s degree.
- Valid Texas Driver s License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel.
- Work is performed in a standard office, classroom or similar environment. May involve standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe conditions and take prudent actions to prevent unsafe practices.
Salary Range (PG 120)$52,600 - $65,749
