We are excited to offer summer school again to students going into grades 1-8 for the 2025 Summer Session. The first step in this process is to seek qualified and interested candidates to apply for positions.
Why It Matters- Expanding summer school hours benefits students with increased academic and social enrichment, while providing families with safe and engaging programming for extended periods.
- The additional hours maximize Targeted Service funding
, enhancing support for students and teachers through daily enrichment specialists, off‑site learning opportunities, and one‑time funds for comprehensive summer programming
.
- The student and staff day will expand by two hours:
- Student Hours 8:00‑2:00 or 8:15‑2:15 (pending location)
- Staff
Hours:
7:45‑2:45 or 8:00‑3:00 (pending location)
- We are now able to offer enrichment positions during the day.
- Based upon numbers we will be looking for 2‑3 enrichment teachers per site.
- Hours would be similar to teacher and there would be one‑time curriculum writing funds to support the establishment of enrichment in summer school.
The Details
- Dates: Monday‑Thursday June 8 th –25 th and July 6 th –23 rd
- Time: 8:00‑2:30 or 8:15‑2:45
- Locations: TBD
- Professional Development: There will be planning time prior to the start of summer school.
- Classroom Teacher:
- Rank top two grades you would like to teach (i.e. incoming 1 st , incoming 7 th )
- Enrichment Teacher:
- Please identify preference of grades: 1‑4 or 5‑8
Salary Range is according to education and experience. The salary range for the position is outlined on page 56‑57 of the Austin Education Association Working Agreement:
Next Steps- Student registration will occur between January and March.
- Teaching applications open in December.
- Hiring will be finalized once students have been identified.
- Candidates must have or be able to obtain a proper License from PELSB.
