Position: Math Teacher, School of Rhetoric (Grades 9 - 12)

POSITION SUMMARY

Teachers at Regents School of Austin inspire students to grow in their love for Christ and His created order, discovering truth, goodness, and beauty in every area of learning through our Classical, Christian curriculum.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This SOR math position teaches students in various upper school math subjects across 5 sections. Like other SOR faculty members, this position will also be expected to be a homeroom advisor.

In this role, teachers instruct, disciple, and mentor students in alignment with the Objectives outlined in Article II, helping them flourish spiritually, intellectually, and relationally.

Teachers partner closely with parents and colleagues to prepare students for life beyond Regents, equipped to think critically, love deeply, and serve faithfully.

Lead Students After Class
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust instruction to close learning gaps.
  • Reflect on teaching effectiveness and seek feedback for continuous growth.
  • Use assessment data to refine instruction and strengthen student understanding.
Teaching
  • Teach 5 sections of math, typically two different courses determined by school need and your expertise. Course offerings include:
  • Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Precalculus (honors and on-level)
  • AP Calculus, Calculus, AP Statistics, and Calculus 2
  • Have 1 hour of tutoring time per week outside of the school day
  • Create engaging lessons that utilize varied instructional approaches, including direct instruction, small group collaboration, student board work, and problem solving to reach diverse learners.
  • Guide students in mathematical exploration that develops clear conceptual understanding, requires critical thinking, and sparks curiosity for mathematical patterns and awe for the order and beauty of God's creation.
  • Articulate connections between mathematical truth and beauty and the character of God in ways students can grasp and appreciate.
  • Foster students' growth in problem-solving, logical reasoning, and mathematical communication.
  • Help students make connections between abstract mathematical concepts and real-world applications.
Advisory
  • Lead a group of 10-14 students of the same gender as a homeroom advisor – read scripture, pray, discuss matters and skill development as they come up, etc.
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support and discipleship as needed to the group of students in advisory.
