New hires, re‑hires, and internal hires will typically receive a starting salary between the posted minimum and the average pay of employees in their same classification. Offers will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications and will thoughtfully consider internal pay equity for agency staff who perform similar duties and have similar qualifications. The top half of the posted salary range is generally reserved for candidates who exceed the requirements and qualifications for the role.

Position OverviewThe mission of the Department of Authorizing and Policy is to provide students and families with access to high‑quality, best‑fit schools that help unlock the full potential of every student. The Department does this through its work to cultivate new, innovative operators and campuses through open‑enrollment charter schools, district‑charter partnerships, virtual education, parent choice, and local accountability systems.
The Manager, Local Accountability Systems (LAS) will oversee and support the planning and execution of TEA’s local accountability system grant program and local accountability system approval process. This position provides advanced consultative support to school systems and technical work in the development, implementation, and oversight of local accountability systems outlined in HB 22 (85th Regular Session) and the associated grant program as outlined in HB8 (89th Special Session).
The Manager will be responsible for developing communications materials and engaging with a variety of stakeholders in school systems across Texas.
The Manager, Local Accountability Systems reports to the Director of Policy and Operations in the Department of Authorizing and Policy in the Office of Educator Support Systems.
Flexible work location within the state of Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.

- Manage the Local Accountability System Grant, Vendors, and Technical Assistance Providers:
Provide guidance and strategic advice on the implementation of Texas’ Local Accountability System grants and ensure all grant timelines and deliverables are met and plans are high‑quality and aligned to criteria. - Support, evaluate, and monitor LAS grantees:
Design, format, and edit guidance documents, communication plans, and training related to grant eligibility requirements and application processes. Provide ongoing support and monitoring through grant implementation to ensure grantee compliance with grant requirements. Designs and implements public facing materials and presentations to increase awareness of the Local Accountability System. - Track progress and milestones:
