The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) college student for a part-time internship focused on Spanish-language content and resources. This position supports the development and maintenance of Spanish materials across Texas OnCourse products.
The intern will work closely with the content and resources team and Spanish translator to complete quality assurance checks and evaluate, tag, and format documents written in Spanish. To be successful in this position, the candidate should be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and confident in both written Spanish and English and willing help with any tasks assigned by a supervisor. The successful candidate must be honest and ethical and recognize the requirements of confidentiality.
The intern will be part of a team consisting of two assistant directors, two subject matter experts, two instructional designers, and two editors, all managed by the Director of Content and Resources.
- Knowledge of college and career readiness milestones, including career exploration, applying to college and for financial aid, etc.
- Knowledge of the Spanish language, including colloquialisms.
- Skill in working with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in solving problems and developing efficient processes.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and present data in a format appropriate for intended audiences.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Required Minimum
Education and Experience:
- Fluency in writing and understanding Spanish, including grammar, complex concepts, and extensive vocabulary.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate in an accredited university/college program as a sophomore or higher.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate in an accredited university/college program as a junior or higher.
- Minimum of 1.5–3 years of experience working in an office or professional setting.
- Six months of additional relevant full-time work experience may substitute for 15 semester credit hours of required education, up to four years.
- Experience with Zoom, Teams, and project management tools like Smartsheet, Trello, and Asana.
- Experience with designing documents using Adobe InDesign and other graphic design tools.
- Experience with HTML/CSS.
