We make a radical, long-term commitment to students, to and through college, unlocking the power of education and a lifetime of opportunity.
We support the whole student with personalized services, work closely with community partners, campuses, and employers, and advocate for our students with lawmakers. Breakthrough students attend 60+ public schools and persist at nearly 100 colleges and universities. The result is that 55% of Breakthrough students graduate from college, compared to 17% of low-income students in our region. Breakthrough recognizes the value and need of high-quality advising services that support students beyond high school graduation, particularly those navigating community college and other nontraditional postsecondary pathways. In this model, we directly serve students through six years of their postsecondary journey, with a strong emphasis on enrollment, persistence, transfer readiness, and multiple pathways to degree and credential attainment. The overall goal of the program is to increase postsecondary attainment rates among Breakthrough students through associate degrees, bachelor's degree completion, trade and workforce-aligned credentials.
As a primary provider of direct services to students and their families, the College & Career Success Program Coordinator is committed to the academic, career, and personal development of students pursuing a postsecondary education. This role carries a direct caseload of up to 75 students (primarily students seeking to re-enroll or already enrolled in community colleges, technical programs, and a smaller subset of four-year institutions), as well as direct supervision of an Ameri Corps member with a similar caseload.
This role reports to the Associate Director of the College & Career Success Team. To achieve the above, Breakthrough’s College & Career Success Program Coordinator will:

- Meet or exceed standards of service for student contact based on tiered support levels and accurately document all interactions in the Salesforce database

- Assist students with community college and nontraditional pathway enrollment, re-enrollment, financial aid (including FAFSA/TASFA completion and renewal), academic planning, and transfer exploration to four-year institutions when applicable
- Support students navigating barriers common to community college and/or nontraditional pathways, including stop-out and return cycles, part-time enrollment, work-school balance, and caregiving responsibilities
- Connect students to wraparound supports that promote persistence and completion, including emergency aid, mental health counseling referrals, childcare resources, and academic support services
- Collect and analyze student persistence, re-enrollment, and transfer data to identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for improved support
- Design and provide timely reports regarding program outputs, outcomes, and student progression across varied postsecondary pathways
