The Opportunity

Austin is one of the fastest-growing cities in America — and it’s packed with teenagers navigating identity, faith, and purpose in a culture that pulls them in every direction. Shoreline Church exists to help people Know God, Find Life, and Make a Difference — and we believe that starts with the next generation.

We’re looking for a Youth Pastor who is passionate about teenagers, energized by community, and ready to build a culture where Middle School and High School students genuinely encounter Jesus. This is not a solo role — you’ll be part of a healthy, collaborative staff at a multi-site church with 4,000 weekly attendees, working within a broader Next Gen vision that spans campuses.

If you’re a mid-career pastor who loves students, develops leaders instinctively, and wants to do meaningful ministry in one of the most exciting cities in the country — we want to hear from you.

Role Overview

The Youth Pastor provides pastoral and programmatic leadership for Shoreline’s North Campus youth ministry, overseeing both Middle School (Midway) and High School (Foundation) environments. This pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader and community builder for students at North Campus, working within the broader Next Gen vision and reporting to the Ministries Pastor.

Key Responsibilities Pastoral Leadership
  • Serve as the primary spiritual leader and shepherd for North Campus middle school and high school students.
  • Create environments where students feel known, valued, and challenged to grow in their faith.
  • Provide individual pastoral care and support for students and families navigating difficult seasons.
Teaching & Discipleship
  • Develop and deliver biblically grounded, age-appropriate teaching that resonates with today’s students.
  • Build discipleship pathways — life groups, mentorships, and leadership tracks — that move students from attendance to ownership.
  • Align teaching content with the broader Shoreline sermon series and spiritual calendar.
Team Building
  • Recruit, train, and empower a diverse volunteer team that reflects Shoreline’s community.
  • Cultivate a culture of teamwork, accountability, and genuine care within the youth team.
  • Identify and invest in emerging student leaders for long-term impact.
Programming & Events
  • Lead engaging Sunday morning and midweek youth environments for both middle and high school students.
  • Plan and execute impactful retreats, events, and outreach initiatives throughout the year.
  • Ensure programming excellence in alignment with Shoreline’s production and hospitality standards.
Family Partnership
  • Build authentic relationships with parents as key partners in the spiritual formation of their teenagers.
  • Communicate proactively with families about vision, events, and pastoral needs.
  • Collaborate with Children’s Ministry to create a connected K–12 discipleship journey.
Staff Collaboration
  • Participate actively in Shoreline staff rhythms, retreats, and cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the broader Next Gen team to ensure alignment across life stages.
  • Contribute to a healthy, high-trust staff culture.
Stewardship
  • Manage the North Campus youth ministry budget responsibly and transparently.
  • Steward event and retreat budgets in partnership with the finance team.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pastoral ministry, with a focus on youth or student ministry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build volunteer teams and develop emerging leaders.
  • Theological training (degree or equivalent experience).
  • Strong communicator — both from a stage and in one‑on‑one relationships.
  • Experience planning and executing youth events, retreats, and programming.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a multi‑staff, multi‑campus environment.
  • A deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and an authentic love for teenagers.
Who We’re Looking For
  • A pastor first — someone who leads with relational depth and genuine care for students.
  • A team builder who raises up volunteers and student leaders, not just runs programs.
  • A communicator who can hold a room of high schoolers and earn the trust of their parents.
  • A bridge‑builder between students, families, and the broader Shoreline community.
  • A collaborative contributor who makes the whole staff team better.
  • A servant‑hearted leader who embodies Shoreline’s Love Revolution culture.
