Job Description Summary

To provide academic support to accounting students through the provision of individual and/orgroup tutorial services; coordinates with students, lab tutors, and faculty regarding tutorial services.

Responsibilities
  • Tutor students according to set priorities and academic goals.
  • Provide assistance to students on a one-on-one or group basis in accounting, college study skills, and learning lab resources.
  • Organize supplemental learning materials.
  • Provide feedback on student progress.
  • Assist with research, development, delivery, and evaluation of specialized tutoring services and/or resources for tutorial activities.
  • Lead study groups in subject matter.
  • Conduct physical tutoring on campus in a learning lab and virtual classroom tutoring via Zoom or ACC-approved platforms.
Required Knowledge
  • Tutoring techniques, standards, and supplemental learning materials for individual and group tutoring.
  • Learning Lab services.
  • Processes and resources for organizing and leading study groups.

  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

  • Providing quality tutorial services to groups and individuals and providing feedback regarding student performance and/or progress.

  • Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes good relations with students, co-workers, and staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications as well as AI tools in an ethical and responsible manner.
Required Work Experience
  • For Tutor I: at least one semester of related work experience.
  • For Tutor II: at least one year of related work experience.
  • For Tutor III: at least two years of related work experience.
  • For Tutor IV: at least three years of related work experience.
  • For Tutor V: at least four years of related work experience.
  • For Tutor VI: at least five years of related work experience.
Required Education
  • For Tutor I – III:
    Associate's degree or substantial undergraduate coursework (12 semester hours) in the discipline, and demonstrated competence in the subjects that will be tutored.
  • For Tutor IV – VI:
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in the discipline, and demonstrated competence in the subjects that will be tutored.
  • Preferred:
    At least 18 semester hours of coursework at the graduate level in the discipline, and/or active professional license in the discipline.
Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a learning lab environment on campus in an academic setting and/or in a virtual classroom environment such as Zoom. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds. Must work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

Pay

Rate

$23.00 per hour.

Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans, and AD&D. Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan.
