Mission:
The Regional Coach plays a critical role in building instructional leadership capacity within a region by developing Assistant Principals of Instruction as both individual leaders and a cohesive cohort. This position focuses on deepening content expertise, sharpening pedagogical skills, and strengthening instructional leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality teaching across campuses. Regional Coaches thrive in dynamic environments and prioritize hands-on collaboration, spending significant time on-site to deliver targeted coaching and facilitate impactful professional learning.
By equipping APIs to lead strong first instruction and data-driven interventions, this role accelerates student achievement and empowers campuses to meet ambitious academic goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide differentiated, dotted-line support primarily to Assistant Principals of Instruction, tailoring coaching and guidance to each region and school's unique context and needs. Support may also extend to additional school-based instructional leaders and regional instructional leaders, as assigned.
Location:
This is a full-time position located in Austin. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate.
Travel Expectations:
* 40 - 80% of the time within the region, depending on the needs of the season and the context of the region.
* Travel across or outside of IDEA regions up to approximately 10 times per year for possible strategic collaboration, training facilitation, external training opportunities, and/or required program observations. Commercial air travel may be required.
What You'll Do - Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
* Drive strong Tier 1 instruction and data-driven interventions that close achievement gaps and accelerate student progress through the development of Assistant Principals of Instruction (APIs) and other school leaders-both in person and virtually.
* Track and monitor APIs' ability to influence student academic outcomes, using data and observation to identify areas of strength and growth. Provide tailored support aligned to regional priorities and instructional goals.
* Facilitate recurring regional meetings with APIs and other instructional leaders to build leadership capacity, analyze achievement data, and collaboratively solve instructional challenges impacting student success.
* Design and deliver professional development aligned to organizational priorities, equipping leaders to train teachers effectively and improve classroom results. Highlight best practices in instructional leadership through consulting, facilitation, and strategic guidance.
* Analyze student data, student work, and instructional practices to inform coaching, professional development, and resource creation that builds leader capacity and improves teaching quality and learning outcomes.
* Lead regional initiatives to strengthen instructional capacity, including observation-based coaching, targeted analysis, and the development of pedagogical resources that support effective instructional delivery.
* Partner cross-functionally within the Regional Team to align training, resources, and priorities, exchanging feedback to continuously improve instructional outcomes and student performance.
Additional
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Design and implement a regional vision for teacher collaboration (PLCs) that positions teachers as instructional experts. Ensure PLCs are grounded in required network curriculum and focused on developing pedagogical moves that scaffold student access to Tier 1 Instruction and Tier 1 Interventions.
* Collaborate with Curriculum & Instruction Coaches to stay current on curriculum, policy, and practice updates, and to build capacity in school-based instructional leaders for effective curriculum implementation.
