Job Description

This position comes with a $7,500 stipend for qualified individuals.

Primary

Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsement for subject and level assigned or approved alternative certification program
  • Bilingual Certification required
  • Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
  • Knowledge/

    Skills:

  • Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to research and develop teaching units
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience:
  • Student teaching or approved internship or related work experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Professionalism: The Educators' Code of Ethics is set forth in Texas Administrative Code to provide rules for standard practices and ethical conduct toward students, professional colleagues, school officials, parents, and members of the community.
  • Instructional Management: The teacher promotes improvement of instruction through: developing and implementing lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, planning for accommodations for differences in student learning styles, presenting subject matter according to guidelines, planning and using appropriate instructional strategies and materials, collaborating with other teachers to modify curricula for students with special needs, determining instructional goals and methods with staff, assessing student learning styles, and using technology to support teaching and learning.
  • Student Growth and Development: Foster student growth through activities such as analyzing study methods, ongoing assessment of student achievement, and sponsoring extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Classroom Management and Organization: Create conducive learning environments, manage student behavior per conduct codes, protect students and resources, and assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Communication and Community Relations: Maintain open communications with parents, students, principals, teachers, and support staff; present information clearly; maintain professional relationships.
  • Professional Growth and Development: Participate in professional development and stay informed on best practices.
  • Qualities of Effective Teachers: Maintain punctuality and compliance with policies and laws, keep records, participate in meetings, ensure safety and confidentiality.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise assigned teacher aides, volunteers, and student teachers; plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers.
  • Equipment: Computer, software, peripherals, and related classroom equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Mental and physical demands as described, including possible long hours, travel, and exposure to various environmental factors.

Salary

Salary: $60,000 to $76,383
