Job Description
Summary:
To direct the development and operation of distance education, distance education quality assurance, course design and student and faculty support services.
Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks Under the direct supervision of the Dean, Digital Learning, directs the distance education quality assurance processes and procedures across program and project teams.
Develops, directs, and implements a systematic design and development process deliver online courses and modules in an agile way, in consultation with instructional departments.
Directs distance education instructional design projects; evaluates requests and develops project priorities, and resource allocation plans.
Provides project management for the distance education department, including setting and monitoring targets for new course development, and quality review of new course development.
Leads the creation and development of distance education faculty training and support related to online learning experience pedagogy.
Coordinates distance education faculty development programming with the Teaching and Learning Excellence Division.
Manages and provides leadership and guidance to staff; develops priorities and assigns tasks and projects; ensures that all issues are addressed and resolved.
Creates online resources available to both students and instructor.
Maintains distance education state authorization compliance, including membership in State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement.
Works with instructional departments in scheduling distance education courses; develops annual and semester schedules, and allocation of sections.
Directs the efforts to identify new distance education course materials, evaluates the appropriateness for ACC use, disseminates materials to faculty, and manages the approval process.
Supervises Distance Learning staff.
Knowledge Current principles and practices of distance learning technology and applications in an educational environment.
Current principles and practices of distance education instructional development and design services in an educational environment.
Management and implementation of organization-wide technology projects.
Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
Project planning and management principles.
Knowledge of SACSCOC accreditation principles and the distance education policy statement.
Knowledge of online learning quality assurance standards such as Quality Matters.
