Position: 2026-27 AP Computer Science Teacher, High School

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the instructional team to implement and exceed state learning standards and district curriculum and assessments to meet rigorous academic expectations.
  • Learn, master, and deliver content and grade‑level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
  • Create and submit weekly lesson plans.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments to track each scholar’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update the grade book weekly.
  • Use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve scholar achievement and manage work‑related tasks.
  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with the district’s commitment to restorative practices and a zero suspension policy.
  • Participate in regular manager check‑ins, grade‑level meetings, before and after‑school duties, and school‑wide meetings and functions.
  • Attend summer and year‑long district, school, and personal development training.
  • Utilize the knowledge from professional development to improve instructional practices in the classroom.
  • Help shape and develop a school‑wide culture that fosters a safe and nurturing learning environment for all scholars.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with scholars and families
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Previous success working with second language learners and scholars from diverse backgrounds
Additional Considerations
  • Native Spanish fluency is desired but not required
  • Texas ESL certification preferred (additional stipend)
  • Current Texas credential in the subject area applying for (or information indicating your eligibility to receive one).
  • Three years of teaching experience
  • Thorough understanding of curriculum, instruction, and student learning
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Thorough understanding of school operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coordinate campus wide initiatives
Knowledge and Skills
  • Deep‑seeded belief in the mission and vision of Austin Achieve
  • Be willing to do “whatever it takes” to ensure all scholars learn
  • Hold all scholars to the highest expectations to ensure college readiness
  • Ability to use data to inform instructional practices
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills
  • Experience in collaboratively developing lesson and unit plans
