Overview
The Coordinator of Special Education will assist the Director of Education and Accreditation in implementing a special needs program across Catholic schools. This position will play a vital role in ensuring that students with diverse learning needs receive appropriate support, accommodations, and inclusive educational opportunities aligned with both best practices and the mission of Catholic education. This is a full-time salaried position with a moderate degree of independent judgment that reports to the Executive Director and Director of Education and Accreditation.
This position is funded for two years.
- Lead the creation of a special needs program.
- Develop strategic goals, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality inclusive practices across schools.
- Create systems for the identification, assessment, and support of students with disabilities or learning differences.
- Design and deliver training for teachers, administrators, and support staff on inclusive education strategies.
- Provide training and support for school personnel to effectively implement student accommodation plans.
- Serve as a liaison between superintendents, school administrators, and TCCB ED.
- Develop educational materials, resources, and guides for ESA program implementation.
- Ensure educational programs for students with learning differences are implemented in compliance with TCCB ED school policies and accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of Educational Savings Account (ESA) legislation.
- Knowledge of Catholic theology, particularly social and ethical teaching.
- Ability to successfully manage events, projects, and committees.
- Ability to serve as a congenial member of a team.
- Skill in communicating Church teaching publicly and in individual conversations.
Education
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in education or a closely related field of study.
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in Catholic ministry at the parish or diocesan level
- 3-5 years teaching special education
Licenses / Certifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic Abuse Prevention Training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
