Position Overview:

The AI Learning Designer and Implementation Lead supports the integration of institutionally approved AI tools and practices into teaching and learning at assigned campus(es). Operating within Galen’s centralized AI governance and academic strategy, this role focuses on practical implementation, faculty and student enablement, and sustained adoption of AI-supported learning experiences.

Under the direction of the AVP of Instructional Support, the AILD partners with campus leadership, faculty, Instructional Designers, Learning Experience Designers, Subject Matter Experts, and the Curriculum Department to embed AI into classroom instruction, assignments, and learner support practices across on-ground, web-enhanced, and online programs. The role ensures approved AI tools are implemented effectively, responsibly, and consistently within supported campus environments.

The AILD provides ongoing training, coaching, and applied support for faculty and students, translating institutional AI priorities into day-to-day instructional practice. While the role may lead or support pilots when appropriate, its primary responsibility is continuous enablement, refinement, and expansion of AI-enabled learning experiences over time.

Using feedback, adoption data, and classroom insights, the AILD informs improvement efforts and contributes to sustainable, mission-aligned integration of AI within academic programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the instructional design and implementation of AI-enabled learning experiences using institutionally approved tools, in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Learning Experience Designers.

  • Guide the creation, testing, and refinement of approved AI-supported instructional resources aligned to course, program, and institutional needs.

  • Apply and reinforce established AI guardrails and instructional expectations within campus learning environments.

  • Ensure AI-enabled learning experiences are pedagogically sound, aligned with approved learning outcomes, and appropriate for student use.

  • Lead and support campus-level AI implementation initiatives, including pilots when applicable, in alignment with direction from the AVP of Instructional Support.

  • Coordinate implementation activities across faculty, academic units, campus leadership, and student support teams.

  • Monitor implementation progress, identify risks, and adjust support strategies as needed to strengthen adoption and effectiveness.

  • Support expansion and refinement of successful AI-enabled learning practices across additional courses, programs, or campuses as directed.

  • Develop and deliver student orientation experiences that introduce AI-enabled learning tools and clarify expectations for responsible and effective use.

  • Teach practical AI learning strategies that support comprehension, clinical reasoning, practice, and reflection rather than answer generation.

  • Coordinate student-facing resources, guidance, and communications to ensure consistent expectations across supported courses and programs.
