Rank Professor of History

The Center for Economics, Politics & History at the University of Austin invites applications for a full‑time professor of history (any rank) to begin as early as Summer 2026. Applicants should have a strong interest in teaching undergraduate history and research, and hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (or have a degree conferred by the start date). The university seeks a scholar capable of teaching a sequence in American history, with expertise in political, economic, and military history and an applied focus on the United States.

• Teach a full load of six quarter‑length courses per year (typically two per term) and contribute to the development of undergraduate syllabi for core courses.
• Participate actively in faculty meetings, guest lectures, and campus events to sustain and enrich the intellectual life of the university.
• Mentor students with interests in economics and the social sciences, guiding their academic development and future plans.
• Advance UATX’s mission of civil discourse by fostering an environment of open inquiry in both teaching and research, modeling academic freedom and respectful debate.

• Ph.D. in History (or a closely related field) with a special interest in applied or American history.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence.
• Strong commitment to UATX’s mission of free inquiry, open debate, and intellectual diversity.
• U.S. citizenship or approved visa to work full time in the United States.
