Middle and High School Tutor, part timeHeadwaters School, a Pre‑K through grade 12 independent day school serving over 500 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a part‑time Middle School and High School Tutor for the academic year. This position will start mid‑August 2026.

The Middle and High School Tutor is a key member of the Student Learning Support Team. This hands‑on role works with middle and high school students in a school setting. Tutoring sessions include group and individual work. The position works Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, except during school holiday closures.
Skills & Attributes- Ability to work alone with a group of 1‑8 students with varying needs
- Experience tutoring students in math and/or with executive functioning challenges
- Experience with math skills coursework through Algebra 2, preferred
- Relationship and vibe creator—the person in this role is most successful when students want to come to tutoring
- Strong interpersonal skills and a service‑oriented approach to working with students
- Sound judgment, reliability, self‑awareness, and a commitment to ethical decision‑making, including confidentiality
- Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive, with a desire to improve systems
- At least 3 years classroom teaching experience or tutoring experience, preferred
- Experience working with middle school and high school students, required
This is a part‑time, hourly, non‑exempt position with compensation highly competitive for the greater Austin area. The successful candidate also has the opportunity to work independently with parents directly paying an hourly rate for additional tutoring sessions.
