Learning Instructor, Waypoint Academy

Overview

On-site, full-time position in Dripping Springs, TX (near Austin). Compensation of $100,000 annually with weekly pay. Health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one. Relocation assistance provided.

• Facilitating 1-hour outdoor workshops on life skills (communication, focus, teamwork, leadership) using adventure-based, nature-integrated activities following Waypoint's structured curriculum and protocols.
• Conducting individual motivation coaching sessions with students, leveraging Coachbot analytics and learner profiles to guide them toward weekly academic objectives.
• Concluding every workshop with a Test2
  
  Pass mastery assessment: students must demonstrate the targeted life skill in authentic context prior to session completion.
• Exercising outdoor risk management before each session: evaluating routes and weather conditions, inspecting equipment, and adhering to Leave No Trace principles according to Waypoint's field protocols.
• Energizing sessions through narrative techniques, creative adaptation, and the presence needed to maintain engagement across K-12 cohorts in both indoor and outdoor environments.

• Providing traditional academic instruction or classroom lectures. Students engage with core content via adaptive educational technology; your function is to coach through challenges, not teach curriculum.
• Supervising students during screen time. Your focus will be on facilitating outdoor workshops, conducting motivation sessions, and supporting learners who encounter obstacles.
• Assessing assignments, creating lesson plans independently, or preparing students for standardized assessments.
• Reducing expectations for struggling students. Goals remain rigorous, mastery is non-negotiable, and your responsibility is to coach students to success — not adjust standards.
• Handling parent correspondence or administrative tasks. These functions are the responsibility of the Campus Lead.

• Bachelor's degree in any field
• Minimum of 3 years working directly with K-12 students in educational, camp, coaching, or outdoor instruction environments
• Documented history of exceptional personal achievement: competitive sports, academic distinction, or high-level professional success
• Strong public speaking ability with capacity to engage and sustain attention from large student groups in varied settings
• Authentic capacity to build connections with K-12 learners as an inspiring role model who challenges growth, not as a peer who compromises standards
• Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
• Available to work on-site at Waypoint Academy's campus in Dripping Springs, TX (near Austin)

• Background as an athletic coach, wilderness trip leader, camp director, or outdoor program facilitator
• Current first aid or wilderness safety credentials
• Knowledge of adaptive learning systems such as Khan Academy or IXL
• Experience in youth development, experiential education, or outdoor programming for young people
