Position:
Full time, day shift, regular, non‑exempt.
- Plan, design, organize, conduct, and evaluate educational and training programs.
- Train new employees during New Employee Orientation and conduct refresher training for existing staff.
- Serve as a liaison to all departments and programs, ensuring training aligns with facility needs.
- Create and adapt training materials, potentially using innovative methods to increase engagement.
- Assist other trainers in class‑type settings and provide substitute training as needed.
- Maintain accurate training records and attendance logs, submitting reports to the Facility Competency and Training Department.
- Develop curriculum materials, including multimedia presentations, to support learning objectives.
- Identify training needs and recommend improvements based on participant feedback.
- Participate in facility meetings to provide training perspectives and quality improvement recommendations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including supporting disaster response and continuity of operations activities.
- Attend work on a regular basis, possibly on rotating or overtime schedules.
- Conduct group and computer‑lab training sessions, substituting for absent trainers.
- Promote training quality through customized content and interactive techniques.
- Maintain certifications required for teaching, including specialty HHS classes and CPR.
- Participate in facility meetings to discuss training and report statistics.
- Strong understanding of training procedures and adult education principles.
- Proficient in computer‑based programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to operate basic office and audiovisual equipment.
- Strong teamwork and independent work skills.
- Flexibility to work alternate schedules.
- Application of adult education principles to curriculum development.
- Effective oral and written communication with diverse populations.
- Ability to instruct large groups and one‑to‑one sessions.
- Skill in teaching and demonstrating intervention strategies.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend curriculum design improvements.
- Certified in CPR.
- Certified in Treatment Intervention Prevention Strategies (TIPS) within 6 months of employment.
- Associate’s degree required; 1 year of professional teaching may substitute.
- 18 months of direct patient care experience may substitute for teaching degree.
- At least 18 months of training experience.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
- Must pass required background checks, drug screening, and registry verifications.
- All applicants must be at least 18 years old;
Waco and Terrell Center for Youth applicants must be 21. - Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures is required.
