Headwaters School, a Pre‑K through grade 12 independent day school serving over 500 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a part time Middle School and High School Tutor for the academic year. This position will start mid‑August 2026.

The Middle and High School Tutor is a key member of the Student Learning Support Team. This is a hands‑on role for someone who loves working with middle and high school students in a school setting. Tutoring sessions will include group and individual work. This position works Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 pm ‑ 5:30 pm, except for school holiday closures.
Skills & Attributes- Ability to work alone with a group of 1‑8 students with varying needs
- Experience tutoring students in math and/or with executive functioning challenges
- Experience with math skills coursework through Algebra 2, preferred
- Relationship and vibe creator—the person(s) in this role are most successful when the students want to come to tutoring
- Strong interpersonal skills and a service‑oriented approach to working with students
- Sound judgment, reliability, self‑awareness, and a commitment to ethical decision‑making, including ethical decision making and confidentiality
- Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive, with a desire to improve system
- Bachelor’s degree, required
- At least 3 years classroom teaching experience or tutoring experience, preferred
- Experience working with middle school and high school students, required
This is a part‑time, hourly, non‑exempt position and compensation is highly competitive for the greater Austin area. The person who fills the position will also have the opportunity to make connections with additional students and families needing 1‑on‑1 tutoring and where parents directly pay the tutor an hourly rate.
