Overview

Under limited supervision, the Program Coordinator leads several large and complex scholarship and grant programs. The Coordinator designs, plans, and implements comprehensive program strategies, plans, and procedures; gathers, analyzes, and utilizes data for reporting; develops and implements operating procedures, annual work plans, and administers program budgets; provides leadership to professional‑level advising positions and clerical/administrative staff; and serves as the lead for marketing and recruitment of the scholarship programs to help students transition to and be successful at Riverland.

Responsibilities
  • Program Coordination – Plan, organize, administer, and manage multiple scholarship programs; serve as the program’s expert resource for students, faculty, staff, and community partners; promote cooperation among local community, high schools, and the college; review and monitor program performance; ensure compliance; track and report on students’ progress; identify at‑risk students and develop and implement retention strategies; interpret scholarship criteria and translate into procedures;

    document processes; analyze data; consult stakeholders; coordinate outreach, promotional, and marketing materials; ensure data integrity; maintain FERPA confidentiality.
  • Student Success:
    High School Transition
    – Provide advising services to support students; participate in enrollment activities, represent college at community events, orient prospective and new students; participate in new student registration activities to increase admissions and engagement.
  • Other Duties – Perform additional duties assigned to ensure smooth functioning of the department and maintain the organization’s reputation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience – or bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related experience – or equivalent combination; associate degree can be substituted for 6 months of experience, bachelor’s for 12 months, master’s for 18 months in Higher Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience with project management from inception through execution and evaluation.
  • Proficiency with specialized computer software applications and systems to manage, query, and analyze data and create reports.
  • Critical thinking skills for conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information from a variety of sources.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to prepare and present complex information to diverse audiences; facilitate group meetings.
  • Experience working effectively with students from diverse and traditionally underserved backgrounds.
  • Human relations/customer service skills to effectively listen to and assess student needs, provide accurate information and solutions, meet quality of service needs, and evaluate overall student satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years working in Higher Education.
  • Two (2) or more years of program/project coordination.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and college policies, procedures, programs, and resources for admissions, financial aid, records and registration, and student life.
  • Knowledge of research and evaluation methods sufficient to measure and determine program effectiveness.
  • Bilingual or multilingual fluency in Spanish, Karen, Karenni, Somali, Pohnpeian, French, Nuer, Anuak, or other languages that reflect the student body.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations.
