This teacher position is located in Austin, Texas at the University of Texas-University Charter School (Texas Neuro Rehab Campus). It is a partner residential treatment center campus in a non‑traditional alternative educational setting. The year‑round (11 months) 194 days position runs from August 1 to June 30. It follows all state and federal regulations for public schools. The university is part of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education and participates in the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment.
Salary is spread over 12 months and begins on August 1, 2026. Candidates must obtain the English as a Second Language Supplement no later than October 16, 2026.

Serve as a classroom teacher.
Responsibilities- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional interventions, strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to add educational value for each student (ESL, GT, at‑risk, etc.).
- Comply with UT‑UCS curriculum standards and all relevant policies and procedures. Implement each student's IEP and 504 accommodations as stated.
- Establish and maintain open communication with the principal, professional support personnel, teachers, facility staff, parents, and students.
- Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the treatment plan if applicable, the Student Code of Conduct, and the student handbook.
- Conduct ongoing, formal, and informal assessment of student learning. Utilize data effectively to inform instruction.
- Participate in faculty meetings, committee meetings, and staff development as required.
- Valid ELAR 7‑12 and Sped EC‑12 Texas teaching certifications.
- Knowledge of assigned subject or subjects.
- Understanding of TEKS and the curriculum standards of the State of Texas.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a non‑traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of the role that trauma may play in the lives of our students.
- Proficiency in technology and technology applications to the level specified by the district.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Position requires fingerprinting.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Valid additional Social Studies 7‑12 Texas teaching certification.
- At least one year of experience working with students with various special education needs.
- At least one year of experience with special education Individual Education Plans and ARD paperwork.
$57,000 + depending on qualifications.
Working ConditionsClassrooms are located within a residential treatment facility.
