Course Assistant – Rhetoric (Open to Work Study and Non-Work Study)
Position Details:
Part‑time 10 hours per week, non‑exempt, immediate start, anticipated end Dec
31,2026.
Location:
Austin, TX. Pay range: $16.00–$18.00 per hour (based on student employment status). The role supports the OnRamps Rhetoric courses (RHE
306 and RHE
309J) for over 12,000 high‑school students statewide.
- Process documentation for potential academic integrity violations.
- Conduct data analysis and organize trends related to the student experience.
- Assist with seasonal and urgent projects, including communication support between students and staff and responding to student extension requests in the online support system.
- Support scaled communications, scheduling, reporting, and learning management system maintenance, and provide just‑in‑time assistance with seasonal and urgent projects.
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin.
- Minimum 2years of professional work experience.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Reliability, consistency, and decorum in professional conduct.
- Proficiency in online communication tools, including Zoom.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Background check: A criminal history background check will be required for finalists.
- Professional or formal experience working with high‑school students.
- Academic experience in English, Rhetoric, Composition, or related field.
- Experience using Canvas LMS or another learning management system.
- Experience with project‑management software.
- Experience with UT Library databases.
- Proficiency in data processing using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
Hourly pay: $16.00–$18.00. Position is non‑exempt. Students may enroll in the UTSaver voluntary retirement program.
