Primary Purpose
Assist the Interventionist Teacher in providing academic interventions and supporting student achievement. Maintain intervention materials, assist with tracking student progress through data collection and documentation related to intervention services. Attend required trainings, participate in intervention data meetings, and assist with other administrative intervention requirements. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/Certificate
- High School diploma or GED (Recognized by the Texas Education Agency or Regional Accrediting Agency)
- Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate or 48 completed semester hours at an institution of higher education
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
Knowledge/Skills
- Bilingual preferred (read, write, listen, speak in English and Spanish)
- Ability to work well with children and adults
- Ability to communicate effectively

- Experience working with children

Instructional Management
- Work full time with interventionist to provide academic interventions to students
- Assist with keeping track of student data and instructional resources
- Work with interventionist to monitor student progress weekly and/or biweekly and provide information in order to assist the interventionist teacher in making data driven decisions
- Participate in data meetings to discuss student progress
- Participate in training and follow up training in order to assist in effectively implementing academic interventions
- Serve as tutor in any area assigned by Interventionist Teacher
Classroom Management and Organization Improvement
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teachers informed of special needs or concerns with individual students.
Communication and Community Relations
- Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the District.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
- Attend any specified meetings and professional development.

- Daily attendance and punctuality at work is essential.
- Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, special events, and training programs to improve job performance.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
- Shall comply with District policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by the certified teacher and administration.

Equipment
Computer, printer, copier, telephone, time clock, two-way radio, calculator, fax, audiovisual equipment, laminating machine, technological devices, and other equipment applicable to the position.

- Maintains emotional control under stress.
- Works with frequent interruptions.
- Work irregular and extended work hours.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
- Must be able to work on the floor with small groups of children.
- Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
- Uses computer for prolonged period resulting in repetitive hand motion.
- Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration.
- Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
