The UTeach Institute manages the national expansion effort for the innovative UTeach STEM teacher preparation program and supports K–12 teachers with professional learning and resources. We house the UTeach STEM Educators Association (USEA), a professional organization comprised of faculty, staff, and alumni from national UTeach programs.
PurposeThe UTeach Institute Writer/Editor will develop, edit, and design a variety of publications and resources to promote Institute programs and support the national UTeach community. Institute programs include the national UTeach secondary teacher preparation program expansion effort, UTeach K–12 initiatives, and the national UTeach network and UTeach STEM Educators Association (USEA).
Responsibilities- Produce and maintain a variety of public print and online publications, including writing and editing website content, brochures, flyers, newsletters, articles, reports, and social media. Engage in publications planning and project management with the team.
- Support UTeach network engagement in USEA, including writing and editing resources for the network, newsletters, and other communications. Engage in resource planning and project management with the team.
- Contribute to planning, communications, and implementation of the annual UTeach STEM Educators Conference. Plan and participate in engagement efforts for the conference, fostering active participation from programs, alumni, and students.
- Design graphics, guides, reports, and other products.
- Participate in processes and activities designed to establish organizational culture that supports learning, collaboration, and collective responsibility to enhance professional relationships, job satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness.
- Other duties and related projects as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with three or more years of experience writing, editing, and producing a variety of publications. Candidates should have a strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as experience coordinating publication production and handling the design and layout of graphics, reports, guides, and similar materials. This role requires the ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks at once, and work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience writing and editing publications in the education field. Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
Salary$62,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions- Will include occasional evening hours.
- Work in typical office space, including repetitive use of a keyboard.
- Occasionally lift and move boxes up to 50 pounds.
