Job Details

The position of Reading Tutor serves as a reading tutor for first‑grade students in an after‑school program that supports a federally funded research project at the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk, part of the College of Education at the University of Texas ies include teaching small groups using a structured reading program (minimum 3 times per week), attending professional development sessions, recording student progress, and assisting in related project activities such as administering assessments and managing materials.

All training (instruction, data collection, progress monitoring) will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a structured reading intervention with high fidelity and quality to a small group of first‑grade students in an after‑school program 3 times a week; conduct make‑up sessions in case of absences
  • Administer progress monitoring measures
  • Document student attendance and behavior
  • Assist in other project‑related activities (e.g., administer assessments, manage materials)
  • Attend team meetings and maintain communication with project coordinators and after school site coordinators/reading coaches
  • Complete human subjects research training successfully
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of prior experience working with children.

• Daily access to transportation to Round Rock and Leander ISD.

• Daily availability during after school program hours (2:30 pm – 4:30 pm or 5:00 pm).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience tutoring individuals or small groups of students
  • Prior experience working with children
Salary & Working Conditions

Salary Range: $19/hr + depending on qualifications. Working environment includes classrooms and working with first‑grade students. Minimum of 3 shifts per week, for 6 hours weekly. Daily availability, Monday through Friday.
