Student Governance Organizations Graduate Assistant
This position will assist the Associate Director and Financial Advisor with organization, operations, and special projects designed to enhance the student leader experience within Student Government and The Senate of College Councils.
- Typical hours to be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some prescheduled weekend hours. Student meetings regularly occur outside usual business hours.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Student Governance Organizations Advisor with advising the Student Government and Senate with planning, organization, team management, budgeting, goal setting and individual and team coaching.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings associated with shared advising duties. Meetings will include Executive and Assembly representatives to discuss goals, initiatives, policy and implementation of programs.
- Create and maintain resources that support SGO area and organization operations, including, but not limited to, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), UT Box, Mazevo, Hornslink, UTlists, and Outlook Suite.
- Ensuring the Student Government and Senate's compliance with university rules and policies, governing documents, and SGO procedures as they relate to sponsored organizations.
- Assist with the coordination of area programs, initiatives, and events, to include First-Year and Campus-Wide Elections.
- Attend SGO area and Office of the Dean of Students meetings, programs, activities, and events when appropriate.
- Aid with special projects within the SGO area, the Dean of Students, and the Division of Student Affairs.
- Benchmarking collegiate student governance trends to identify best practices.
- Regularly meet with supervisor for strategic planning, ideation, updates, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with administrative and general office duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled graduate student (taking at least 9 hours).
Preferred Qualifications
- A passion to work with college students and their organizational membership.
- Ability to utilize concepts of leader development and organizational design in program planning, advising, and administrative duties.
- Interest, knowledge, and experience working with a student government organization on a college campus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and proven organizational skills.
- Experience with Macintosh computer hardware and software, and the ability to learn applications quickly (i.e., Microsoft Office suite products).
- Other experience/skills as relevant to the specific position responsibilities
- Work closely with the University administration to facilitate connections and begin building relationships for the student organizations and their initiatives.
$19.33 per hour
