PurposeThe Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is seeking a Senior Workforce Development Engineering Advisor to support the development and delivery of semiconductor workforce training programs. This role will report to TIE’s Director of Workforce Development and will serve as a bridge between industry needs and academic training, ensuring that engineering lab courses, curriculum, and instructional materials align with evolving workforce demands.
Curriculum& Instructional Design
- Design and develop hands‑on engineering labs, course modules, and instructional materials for university, community college, and K‑12 audiences.
- Work with faculty, instructional designers, and industry partners to align curriculum with current semiconductor manufacturing and design practices.
- Develop and refine competency‑based assessments to ensure training effectiveness.
- Support the creation of stackable credentials, certificates, and apprenticeship models for semiconductor career pathways.
- Guide students through hands‑on semiconductor manufacturing and testing processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver technical workshops and training modules for university students, community college learners, and K‑12 outreach programs.
- Contribute to grant proposals, workforce development initiatives, and reports for state and federal funding opportunities.
- Measure and evaluate program effectiveness, adjusting training content as needed.
- Support scaling efforts to expand semiconductor workforce training across Texas and beyond.
- Other related functions as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor fabrication, process engineering, equipment maintenance, or a related area.
- Experience teaching or training in an academic or industry setting.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including lithography, etching, deposition, and metrology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage a variety of audiences, from students to industry executives.
- Master’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related technical field.
- More than 5 years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor fabrication, process engineering, equipment maintenance, or a related area.
- Experience collaborating with universities, community colleges, or workforce training programs.
- Familiarity with workforce development initiatives, industry credentialing, or skills‑based education.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and hands‑on lab development.
- Experience with grant writing, program evaluation, or industry‑funded workforce initiatives.
- Experience creating curriculum or courses in the semiconductor science/engineering fields.
$105,000 + depending on qualifications
