Salary: $55,000
Responsibilities- Advise students individually and in groups in a variety of majors and programs within the College of Natural Sciences, with an emphasis on the areas advised by the Natural Sciences Advising Center. Communicate regularly with students to provide accurate college- and university-wide information, schedule classes, create graduation plans, assist with pre-health and career path planning, file degree petitions, and address both academic and non-academic needs.
- Lead specific advising programs or processes for CNS Advising, focusing on primary contact for Medical Laboratory Sciences advising services, faculty connections, and external partners.
- Attend meetings, professional development sessions, provide trainings, and serve on committees as assigned.
- Support special projects and staffing events within CNS.
- Bachelor's degree and six years of experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective academic and non-academic advising to students.
- Ability to teach, present, and/or train student audiences.
- Excellent verbal, written, digital, and virtual communication skills; strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Excel, Box, and other relevant software.
- Adaptable to a changing environment and able to handle multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to collaborate positively with others.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
- Student-centered focus on student success.
- Ability to anticipate next steps and initiate action without being asked.
- Ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Limited evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Must be able to work in person on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience in higher education with student success initiatives.
- Staff and student program implementation experience.
- Environmental demands: may work around standard office conditions.
- Physical tasks: repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
