The UT GEAR UP All In Site Coordinator will help GEAR UP cohort students realize their dream of applying for and attending college by providing academic and college counseling, mentoring, and support across high school and college readiness.
Responsibilities- Provide academic enrichment, mentoring, and tutoring for GEAR UP cohort students, including at‑risk, LEP, and special education students.
- Monitor student grades, attendance, and transcripts to promote on‑time promotion, graduation, and completion of rigorous coursework.
- Assess academic and personal needs of students through evaluations, interviews, and counselor recommendations.
- Collaborate with the school site team to develop and implement individualized service plans and monitor progress toward high school graduation and college readiness.
- Maintain student records and documentation in the grant‑sanctioned data system.
- Support students in meeting assessment standards (STAAR, EOC) and qualifying for PSAT, SAT, ACT, or TSI.
- Coordinate access to qualified counselors at the school or district level.
- Leverage grant resources to ensure students avail of partner‑provided services.
- Organize and facilitate group events such as assemblies, pep rallies, family nights, and other outreach activities.
- Offer one‑on‑one admissions and financial‑aid advice, including college timeline development and application completion.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises student and hourly staff, tutors, mentors, and volunteers.
- Perform administrative duties for the grant, including documentation, reporting, and outreach materials development.
- Build relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers, adapting programs to meet school needs.
- Assist other UT GEAR UP Site Coordinators and support district‑wide events.
- Collect, analyze, and report key progress and outcome data for program evaluation.
- Maintain expertise in college knowledge and readiness through professional development opportunities.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, child development, education, public administration, or related field. - Preferred:
Master’s degree. - Knowledge of Texas secondary education requirements and post‑secondary options, application procedures, and admission requirements.
- Strong understanding of financial aid, scholarship opportunities, and FAFSA processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, parents, and school staff.
- Strong preference for bilingual/bicultural Spanish fluency or knowledge.
$55,000 + depending on qualifications.
Work ConditionsOffice conditions with repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
