Education Assistant – Texas Science & Natural History Museum
Position:
Education Assistant in the Texas Science & Natural History Museum, Texas Memorial Museum.
Hours:
20 per week.
Location:
UT MAIN CAMPUS. Immediate start. Expected to continue.
- Assist the Education Coordinator with developing, designing, and implementing educational materials, programs, and curriculum resources.
- Staff interactive exhibits as assigned.
- Assist with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of educational materials and supplies; support visitor-facing and volunteer-led educational activities.
- Participate in outreach events sponsored by the museum and partner organizations.
- Attend required trainings and meetings; perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Broad knowledge of the natural sciences and/or Texas natural history.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and adapt to changing needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in the sciences or science education.
- Experience working with children or youth in educational settings.
- Experience in museums, nature centers, or other informal education environments.
$20 per hour.
Working Conditions- Work performed in a museum environment.
- Regular interaction with the public, including children and families.
- Some local travel to partner organizations.
- Occasional extended periods of standing.
- Occasional lifting and moving program materials 20+ lbs.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a desk.
Tuesday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.;
Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.;
Sunday, 1–5 p.m. Some evening availability and travel to partner organizations required.
