Hours:
Sundays, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. + approximately 3 flexible hours during the week Compensation: $55/hour

Approximately 7 hours/week averaged across the school year, with some seasonal fluctuation based on trainings, orientation, and student support needs About the Role At Temple Beth Shalom, we believe that Jewish learning should feel joyful, meaningful, accessible, and deeply supportive for every child and family. We are looking for a compassionate, collaborative, and proactive Student Support Manager to help us continue building a religious school culture where students are set up to succeed and teachers feel equipped to support a wide range of learners.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in education, child development, special education, counseling, behavioral support, or a related field who loves working directly with kids while also partnering closely with families and teachers. The Student Support Manager will play a key role in helping us think intentionally and creatively about how we support diverse learners in our community.
As a supplementary Jewish educational program that meets primarily once a week, our goal is not to replicate a full school-day support model, but rather to thoughtfully adapt accommodations and strategies in ways that help students feel successful, included, and able to meaningfully participate in Jewish learning and community.
Key Responsibilities Student Support & Planning
• Review and interpret student learning plans (IEPs, 504s, evaluations, and related documentation)
• Help translate accommodations and recommendations into practical strategies for our religious school setting
• Partner with families and teachers to develop individualized approaches that support student success
• Consult with teachers about classroom supports, accommodations, and proactive strategies
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality while ensuring teachers have the tools and information they need Family Communication & Partnership
• Serve as a primary point of contact for families navigating learning, behavioral, emotional, or social support needs within the religious school environment
• Build strong relationships with families rooted in trust, empathy, collaboration, and open communication
• Meet and communicate with families proactively to better understand students’ strengths, challenges, triggers, accommodations, and successful support strategies
• Help families feel seen, heard, and supported while also setting realistic expectations within the context of a once-weekly supplementary educational program
• Provide follow-up communication after significant classroom or behavioral incidents when appropriate
• Collaborate with families and staff to help create consistent and supportive approaches for students
• Help identify when additional classroom support, accommodations, or outside resources may be beneficial Classroom & Behavioral Support
• Serve as the primary support person for more significant behavioral or emotional challenges that arise during Sunday school
• Help teachers navigate situations that extend beyond the scope of typical classroom management
• Provide in-the-moment support when needed and help develop proactive strategies for future success
• Support students in ways that preserve dignity, relationship, and belonging
• Help create systems and strategies that allow students to remain connected to classroom and community life whenever possible Classroom Aide Coordination
• Help supervise and support individual classroom aides working with students
• Provide guidance to aides around classroom expectations, student support strategies, and communication practices
• Collaborate with the education team to help determine when additional classroom support may be beneficial Teacher Training & Coaching
• Lead a training during teacher orientation focused on: o Child development o Classroom management o Supporting diverse learners o Creating inclusive classroom environments
