Salary : $19 per hour

The Substitute Teacher provides a nurturing, Christ-centered presence in the classroom when regular teachers are absent. This role supports the mission of City School by ensuring learning continues with care, structure, and joy across Pre‑K through 8th grade. Substitute teachers follow pre-planned lessons, maintain classroom routines, and foster a calm, respectful learning environment.

• Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher and guide students through planned activities
• Create a positive and structured classroom environment aligned with City School values
• Supervise students attentively and manage classroom behavior with consistency and care
• Communicate student concerns, behavior issues, or absences to the appropriate staff
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth classroom transitions and coverage
• Communicate professionally with colleagues and administrators
• Leave a summary or handoff notes for the returning classroom teacher as needed
• Follow school wide expectations for conduct, safety, and confidentiality

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in education preferred
• Experience working with children in a group setting (preferably ages 3–15)
• Active member in good standing at a Christian church
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain prior to start date)
• Flexible, calm, and dependable presence
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Interest in Charlotte Mason education is a plus
