Position: Experienced , Organized Director for Accredited Preschool - Austin 78753

Job Summary

The Site Director oversees the operations and management of the assigned school.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the site, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children.
  • Lead and inspire a team of educators by fostering collaboration and communication.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high‑quality early childhood education curriculum that promotes growth in cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Support teachers in their lesson planning, classroom management, and professional development through mentorship and feedback.
  • Regularly observe teachers’ performance and provide ongoing feedback to all direct reports to ensure that Open Door, licensing and the highest accreditation standards are maintained.
  • Build strong relationships with children and their families by communicating regularly and actively listening to their needs, concerns, and providing access support services as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing, safety, and accreditation standards in order to maintain the highest level of quality services and to keep the center’s highest recognition.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, timekeeping, leave requests, and resources.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating an attitude of positive communication, problem solving, openness, patience, and firmness.
  • Exemplify the Open Door values of Equity, Village, Child‑led, and Play to ensure the atmosphere of classrooms and the school is welcoming and supportive to all children and families.
  • Maintain optimal enrollment with timely response to inquiries, engaging school tours, and follow‑up as needed.
  • Post jobs, hire, and onboard new staff.
  • Monitor staff training logs and identify training needs for staff to meet licensing standards and for professional development.
  • Submit staff and volunteer criminal background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Maintain staff files and student records.
  • Collaborate with Family CARES, Development, and Administrative team on organizational priorities.
  • Participate in and support community initiatives and fundraising events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40-50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Director/Administrative credential
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • CPR and first aid certifications
  • Minimum 5 years of classroom experience
  • Deep understanding of child development, early childhood curriculum, classroom management, and developmentally‑appropriate best practices
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Child Care Regulations, minimum standards, Texas Rising Star requirements, and NAEYC best practices.
  • Demonstrated highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, children, and families, and build trusting relationships.
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Google Workspace, with the ability to efficiently create, manage, and collaborate on documents and projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of inclusion and experience serving children with special needs.
