Extended Care Teacher

St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School is seeking an Extended Care Teacher that fulfills the mission of by ensuring the safety of the students through proactive supervision. The Extended Care Position provides support to the Extended Care Coordinator with the preparation of materials and rooms, student supervision and assistance, and ensuring a safe, caring environment for students attending the extended care program.

The position is hired and evaluated by the principal. The hours are from Monday - Friday, 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM depending on the schedule and availability.

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors and school administrators serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities.

Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church.

Essential Duties

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Supports the principal in plans to ensure that the Catholic mission and identity of the school is evident.
  • Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy.
  • Communicates effectively within the school community.
  • Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/local administration.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
  • Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff.
  • Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support planning.
  • Conferences with others as needed and responds to messages in a timely manner.
  • Uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Serve as a role model by living Gospel values and supporting the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures of the school and Diocese.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all school-related matters.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Monitor and assist students in small group activities and during homework time.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all students.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic First Aid knowledge (training can be provided).
  • EIM Certified (certification can be provided).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and the school community.
  • Effective multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Passion for motivating and engaging students in a positive way.

Certifications:

  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
