Floating Teacher

The Floating Substitute Teacher plays a vital role in supporting classrooms across all Child Inc. centers. This position temporarily fills in for teachers or teacher assistants, ensuring that children receive consistent, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. You will help implement curriculum, maintain safe and engaging environments, and support the overall health, safety, and growth of children ages infant through 5 years.

Key responsibilities include providing classroom coverage in the absence of a teacher or assistant teacher, supporting lesson planning and implementation aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, engaging children in meaningful, developmentally appropriate activities that support social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth, maintaining a safe classroom environment, assisting in observing and documenting child development, building positive, nurturing relationships with children, families, and staff, supporting bilingual and multicultural learning experiences, ensuring classrooms are organized, clean, and literacy-rich, and participating in trainings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, infant/toddler CDA or preschool CDA (or willingness to earn within 12 months of employment), at least 3 months of experience working with children (infant–5 years), ability to work at multiple Child Inc. centers as assigned, basic computer skills, pediatric CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days), passing a physical exam, TB test, and all background checks, and bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Skills and attributes include flexibility and adaptability to different classrooms and schedules, strong communication and collaboration skills, commitment to child safety and active supervision, ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries, and passion for early childhood education and child development.

Working conditions include frequent standing, bending, squatting, and engaging at children's level, ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (children and classroom materials), exposure to typical childcare settings (indoor/outdoor, weather variations), and occasional in-area and out-of-area travel for training or support.
