Position SummaryThe Texas Girls School is seeking a dynamic Humanities Teacher to teach ELA and Social Studies in grades 6-8 within our small, STEM-focused charter school.
This position includes four STAAR-tested assignments:
- 6th Grade ELA
- 7th Grade ELA
- 8th Grade ELA
- 8th Grade Social Studies
The teacher will also provide Social Studies instruction across the middle school grades.
Key Responsibilities- Teach TEKS-aligned ELA and Social Studies
- Prepare students for STAAR while creating engaging, rigorous learning experiences
- Develop strong readers, writers, communicators, and critical thinkers
- Use student data and assessments to guide instruction
- Differentiate for gifted, neurodiverse, intervention, and special education students
- Incorporate discussion, research, projects, current events, and interdisciplinary learning
- Maintain strong classroom culture, grading, lesson planning, and parent communication
- Collaborate in PLCs, coaching, FLEX Fridays, and school wide projects
- Support TTGS culture, student leadership, and experiential learning
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Texas teaching certification
- Strong ELA instructional background
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to support diverse learners
Preferred
- Middle school ELA and/or Social Studies experience
- Experience teaching STAAR-tested courses
- Project-based or interdisciplinary teaching experience

Compensation- Starting base salary of $57,995
- Additional salary steps for verified years of service
- TRA eligibility, where applicable, up to $8,000
