Classification:
Part-time for school year. 10 hrs. per week. (Monday–Thursday, 3–5:30 PM)
Supervises:
No one
Reports to:
Head of School
Salary : Commensurate with experience.
Position Summary:The Aftercare Teacher provides a nurturing, Christ-centered environment for students after school through structured play, creative activities, and a daily snack. This role supports the overall mission of City School by extending care, consistency, and joy into the after-school hours.
Key Responsibilities:Student Engagement & SupervisionCreate a safe, nurturing, and joy-filled environment for children after school
Lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and playtime activities for a multi-age group
Supervise transitions and support student behavior with consistency and care
Maintain awareness of any medical needs, allergies, or student-specific accommodations
Program Operations
Maintain daily attendance and assist with monthly reporting for billing
Clean and reset aftercare space each day; report needed repairs or supply restocks
Communicate with teachers and school staff regarding student needs or concerns
Family & Team CommunicationGreet parents warmly and communicate daily with professionalism and clarity
Represent City School’s values of kindness, humility, and grace in all interactions
Participate in occasional after-school team meetings or planning session
Follow school wide expectations for conduct, safety, and confidentiality
Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required.
Experience working with children in a group setting (preferably ages 3–15)
Active member in good standing at a Christian church
CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain prior to start date)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Calm, dependable, and joy-filled presence
Interest in Charlotte Mason education is a plus
