B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin ("LBJ School") invites applications for atenure-track Assistant Professor of Health Policy to begin in Fallof academic year 2027-28 (with an August 2027 start date). One ofthe nation's top programs in public affairs, the LBJ School isseeking to strengthen its faculty in health policy design,implementation, and evaluation.

The LBJ School comprises more than 50 faculty members and approximately 350 graduate students, and a new undergraduate degree that will eventually serve another 500 students. It offersmulti-disciplinary curricula leading to the degrees of Bachelor ofArts of Public Affairs, Master of Public Affairs, Master of Global Policy Studies, Master of National Security, and Ph.D. in Public Policy.

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience and expertise inone or more of the following areas:
healthcare systems,healthcare policy reforms, health services research, and theeffects of policy on health (e.g. policies affecting the socioeconomic or environmental determinants ofhealth).

They will also teach courses related to public policy. Theappointee's research will have direct relevance to public policy.

The appointee will conduct and publish scholarly research and seekgrant opportunities in support of their research and/or teachingactivities. The appointee will participate in faculty governance inthe LBJ School.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science,Statistics/Data Science, Sociology, Public Health or a related field with an emphasis in health policy is required. ABD candidate swill be considered if the doctoral degree will be complete by thetime of employment. Candidates who are already Assistant Professorswill be considered as well. Experience in college teaching and evidence of scholarship or scholarly potential is preferred.

The search committee will begin considering applications November 8th, 2026. The position will remain openuntil filled, but applications submitted before November 8th will receive priority.
