Brief

Job Description

The Training Specialist IV reports to the Manager of the IDD and PASRR Training and Curriculum Development Unit. The Training Specialist IV works under supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Training Specialist IV provides training to Local Authority staff and others on the Pre-admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) processes. May present in virtual classroom, small classroom settings, or large conference venues.

The training specialist will also assist with the development of curriculum and other training materials as requested. Researches and analyzes the PASRR process and guidelines in order to successfully present course materials. Gives feedback to management and lead developers regarding course improvements. Uses adult learning techniques to impart knowledge. Continually looks for ways to improve skills and initiate new methods to teach.

Some travel to locations across Texas to provide training is expected. Must represent the agency with professionalism at all times. Must be able to utilize independent judgment and work independently and in teams.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Ensures appropriate curriculum and materials are available for training sessions. Ensures that materials and equipment are ready and available prior to teaching 10%
  • Facilitates training sessions and workshops for agency customers using professional presentation skills. Creates a learner-centered environment in the classroom that maximizes learning opportunities. Interfaces with external and internal customers, representing the agency in a professional manner. 50%
  • Develops training materials and submits requests and/or suggestions to team leads or manager for training improvements including curriculum changes. Assists curriculum leads in the creation and/or modification of training materials as requested. Reviews and edits materials as requested. 10%
  • Attends required train-the-trainer sessions and preparation meetings. Provides input and participates fully. Maintains documentation and notes to carry out training assignments. 15%
  • Maintains and completes all requested training reports, including training rosters. Tracks attendee registration, completes travel requests, and other documents. 15%
