Description

The Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry (CBMC) at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy works at the nexus of Chemistry and Biology to generate chemical and biochemical tools to study mechanisms of cell signaling, biosynthetic pathways, enzyme evolution DNA repair, and other therapeutic targets for drug design. To advance this mission, CBMC invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the Professor level who will also serve as Division Head effective August 2027.

CBMC is a highly interdisciplinary and interactive group of seven faculty members engaged in cutting edge research. The successful applicant will engage in productive interdisciplinary research, provide high-quality teaching, and actively participate in university service.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant field and a strong record of vigorous research accomplishments including a career stage appropriate funded research program, and publications, with a focus on chemical and molecular mechanisms of high biomedical significance. Qualified candidates in research areas that would be eligible for CPRIT (Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas) and/or DPRIT (Dementia Prevention Research Institute of Texas) Established Investigator awards, are especially encouraged to apply.

To ensure success and longevity, competitive start-up packages are provided, with potential endowment recognition for the successful candidate.

Candidates are also expected to teach core professional and graduate courses in Pharmacy, including the Pharm.

D. program, develop and nurture a sponsored research program, supervise graduate students, collaborate with other faculty, and have a commitment to university and professional service. Additionally, we seek applicants who have a desire to build collaborations with Dell Medical School, the UT Austin Cancer Research Center, the LaMontagne Center for Infectious Disease, and others. Furthermore, the college has strong clinical partnerships with several medical institutions across Texas, including the UT Health/UT San Antonio.
