Job Details PurposeThe Meadows Center for Preventing Education Risk (MCPER) at The University of Texas at Austin is looking for individuals to serve as reading interventionists in Hutto ISD. You will be part of a team that works with students in public schools located in Hutto providing small group reading instruction to elementary school students. These positions will begin as soon as the end of September and have the potential to last through May.
Training will be provided in early to mid-October. Intervention will begin in early November. Experienced teachers, paraprofessionals, and others who have experience providing instruction to students are encouraged to apply.
- Teach students to help them improve their word reading and reading comprehension skills.
- Travel to Hutto ISD schools.
- Receive training on providing high-quality instruction using lesson plans developed by the MCPER research team(4 paid training dates in mid-October).
- Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience. Experience working with children in an educational setting. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, flexible, and a team player. Must possess strong English language proficiency. Must have a reliable vehicle for travel to schools and be willing to travel to Hutto ISD.
This is a security sensitive position-a criminal background check will be required for all reading interventionists
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in the fields of education, psychology, speech pathology, or social work. Three years of relevant experience.
Salary Range$25/hr
Working Conditions- Classroom environment in Hutto ISD schools.
- The hours of this position will be 10-19 hours/week, 3-5 days/week, during school hours (7am-3pm).

Retirement Plan EligibilityThe retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
