Scope of Job:

The UTRGV School of Medicine seeks a part-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor for teaching a Radiology elective. Experience teaching in an LCME accredited medical school is preferred. The Assistant Professor will contribute to the education and development of medical students through the delivery of a structured Radiology elective. The faculty member will provide high-quality, clinically relevant instruction in diagnostic imaging, facilitate case-based and interactive learning and assess student performance.

The faculty member will work collaboratively with the Department of Medical Education to ensure that the elective aligns within institutional curriculum objectives, medical student competencies, and applicable accreditation standards.

Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with experience and academic credentials.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License. Completion of an accredited residency in Diagnostic Radiology or appropriate related specialty. Demonstrated interest or experience in medical student education.
Discipline Specific

Required Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Diagnostic Radiology. Training and experience in all imaging modalities.
Preferred

Qualification:
  • Fellowship trained in radiology subspecialty. Fellowship training in a radiology subspecialty. Prior experience teaching medical students. Experience with competency-based medical education. Experience with assessment and evaluation of learners. Evidence of scholarly activity. Experience with simulation, case-based learning, or technology-enhanced education. Experience teaching in an LCME-accredited medical school is preferred.

Additional Information:

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
