Overview
Critical Facilities are becoming more diverse as technology advances, creating a market shift. Hyperscale users and increased demand have turned data into the new utility, making quicker, leaner facilities a must. Gensler’s wide expertise in multiple practice areas gives our Critical Facilities practice a unique edge. Beyond data centers, our Critical Facilities team delivers high‑performance projects for research, supercomputing, command and control centers, SCIFs, distribution and logistics, high‑tech manufacturing, and various other technology‑rich project types.
Role DescriptionAs a Gensler Technical Designer, you will combine creativity and technical knowledge with a focus on project delivery and an understanding of how to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You will drive the delivery of a project, collaborate with office and regional technical leaders, and develop delivery and process improvement strategies.
Responsibilities- Work with our Critical Facilities team on conceptual designs, presentations, design development, and production.
- Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions.
- Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and production.
- Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
- Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings.
- Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination.
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university required.
- 0‑5 years of related experience, including demonstrated success or interest in working on critical facilities projects.
- Proficiency in Revit, 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements.
- Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
- Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly.
- A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills.
