Job Summary

Mid‑level project position accounting for implementing and maintaining the Company’s Safety and Health Procedures on a larger, moderately complex project. Performs medium to high complexity tasks and may act as a supervisor to other safety and health professionals. Field‑based role in Bridge City, TX.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implements, administers, and maintains project Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse Program. Develops and conducts employee safety and health training programs. Conducts detailed site safety and health inspections.
  • Manages project security contracts, programs, and policies. Performs record keeping and filing functions.
  • Conducts incident and injury/illness investigations, writes detailed injury/illness reports, and completes all appropriate company safety and health program documents.
  • Interfaces with clients and government officials. Manages construction contractor safety and health program administration.
  • Administers project worker's compensation programs and procedures, may act as Safety and Health Consultant to internal and external clients, and may act as on‑site first aid and medical provider.
  • Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports. Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management associated with implementing improvements.
  • Supervises Safety and Health Intern, Safety and Health Specialist 1, 2, and 3.
Minimum Qualifications

Five or more years of safety and health experience. All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Safety and health certification, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Three or more years in a construction environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety and health standards and practices; company substance abuse policies and procedures; worker's compensation policies and procedures; construction contracting strategies and contract administration; company safety and health consultation capabilities and ability to perform as a consultant; first aid/medical functions; communication skills;
    Word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs; ability to write detailed reports; human relations skills; conflict management skills; ability to effectively interface with client and government officials.
Certifications

First Aid, CPR, Drug testing certified, OSHA 500/501, Safety and Health Program Administration, OSHA 10‑hour.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
  • See and hear naturally or with correction.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls according to a set procedure.
  • Engage in repetitive movement.
  • May require work above 5 feet in height.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
  • Typical construction site environment: work in cramped spaces, awkward positions; very hot (above 90 °F) or very cold (below 32 °F) temperatures; exposure to dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.; extremely bright or low lighting conditions; distracting or uncomfortable noise levels; hazardous equipment.
  • Typical office environment.
