Position: Technician (Eldorado, TX)

Job Summary

This dual‑role position supports Longhorn Pipeline operations and maintenance by performing Technician and Damage Prevention duties at the Cartman Station Area near Eldorado, Texas. The Technician provides operational, technical, electrical, and mechanical support for all facility equipment while also performing damage prevention duties, including line locating, one‑calls, and line crossings. The role covers the Longhorn Pipeline, Remote Valve Sites, and Cartman Station near Eldorado, TX.

Candidates must live within 1 hour of Eldorado, TX (San Angelo, Sonora, or Menard acceptable).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for assigned SIP locations primarily involved in transportation of crude oil, refined products, and/or natural gas liquids.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company policies/procedures related to operation/maintenance of assigned assets, including System Integrity Plan and OQ requirements, and implement them into work practices.
  • Attend required safety training meetings.
  • Perform routine testing, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all assigned mainline and facility equipment/systems (pumps, motors, electrical equipment, instrumentation, PLCs, measurement systems, product testing & analysis, piping, valves, meters, turbines, etc.).
  • Complete and maintain required documentation/records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Manage location projects, including major overhauls, troubleshooting for pumps and mechanical seals, new installations, or modifications of existing equipment.
  • Perform damage prevention operator duties (line locating, one‑calls, line crossings).
  • Perform operations duties (pipeline pigging, strainer replacements, inspection of mainline valves).
  • Carry out other functions as requested by Supervisor of Operations.
Education
  • High school diploma required.
Experience
  • Hands‑on experience with tools and equipment applicable to the position (manual/power tools, electronic test devices, control devices).
  • Training related to gas processing fundamentals, computers and related software, governmental rules, regulations, and electric codes.
  • Experience with safety and environmental practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high‑pressure systems.
  • Reliability‑Based Programs experience.
  • Reading and interpreting repair orders, mechanical drawings, procedures, charts, diagrams, gauges, and equipment manuals.
  • Processing, verifying maintenance and repair records, safety and environmental reports, electrical schematics, and material orders.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of reciprocating or gas‑turbine engines, compressors, and electronic/processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, electronics, tools, and control systems.
  • Ability to apply basic arithmetic and algebraic formulas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
Licenses and Certifications
  • None required.
Physical Demands

Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Requirements exceed Medium Work:
Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, tasting/smelling, near/far vision, depth perception, color vision.

Working Conditions

Indoor and outdoor environmental conditions: well lit, climate controlled areas; outdoor weather; wet or humid conditions; extreme cold or heat; dust, fumes, gases; moving mechanical parts; electric shock; vibration; loud noises; unprotected heights; repetitive motion; computer monitor usage; travel within assigned area and as required.

Travel

Travel expected within assigned area and to other locations as needed. Driving may require use of company vehicle and applicable driver’s license.
