The Construction Safety Manager 4 oversees and coordinates construction and production activities with a strong focus on electrical and construction safety, quality, and operational efficiency. This role leads safety efforts across commissioning phases and phased turnover environments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, improving production methods, and supporting a safe and efficient work site. The position requires regular site walks, active participation in safety and coordination meetings, and close collaboration with technical and administrative teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers in a construction and commissioning environment.
- Implement measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and overall efficiency.
- Review daily operations and collaborate with technical and administrative staff to resolve production, processing, and safety-related problems.
- Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance data to detect and address production problems.
- Plan, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, discharge staff, while resolving personnel issues and grievances in a fair and consistent manner.

- Complete weekly activity reports, capturing safety observations, production issues, and follow-up actions in a clear and timely manner.
- Attend scheduled safety meetings, contributing to discussions on incident trends, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) and audits to investigate incidents, identify systemic issues, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Monitor leading safety indicators such as the number and quality of field observations per week, participation in RCAs and audits, and behavioral safety engagement.
- Align safety performance with lagging indicators including incident rates, repeat issues, and severity trends, and implement actions to reduce risk.
- Evaluate the quality of hazard identification, ensuring that observations focus on meaningful risks and effective mitigation strategies rather than just quantity.
- Support safe work practices related to energized systems, commissioning phases, material handling, ground disturbance, working at heights, confined space entry, noise, heat extremes, and chemical handling.
- Promote and enforce compliance with electrical safety standards, including NFPA 70E and related tiered safety programs.
- Contribute to safe operations in phased turnover environments, retrofits, and tenant construction where construction and operations overlap, ensuring clear communication and coordination.
Essential Skills
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey safety requirements, production expectations, and corrective actions.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills for identifying hazards, diagnosing production issues, and implementing effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage one's time effectively in a dynamic construction environment.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques that support efficient manufacture and distribution of goods.
