Lead Medium Voltage Electrical Field Technician – Switchgear / Transformers / Protective Relays / Power Distribution URGENT NEED! Experience with 1,000 volts (1kV) and 38,000 volts (38kV) required.

We are seeking a Lead Medium Voltage Electrical Technician to provide technical leadership and hands‑on field support for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium voltage electrical distribution systems. This position serves as a lead technician on projects, mentoring junior personnel while ensuring the safe and successful execution of field service activities across utility, industrial, commercial, renewable energy, and mission‑critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead field teams performing testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage electrical equipment.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to technicians during commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of medium voltage power systems and distribution equipment.
  • Service, inspect, test, and maintain switch gear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, motor control equipment, substations, and power distribution systems.
  • Conduct acceptance testing, relay testing, insulation resistance testing, transformer testing, breaker testing, and power system diagnostics.
  • Support project planning, outage coordination, equipment energization, and startup activities.
  • Review electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, relay settings, protection and control drawings, and commissioning procedures.
  • Coordinate field activities with customers, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and utility personnel.
  • Ensure all testing and commissioning activities are performed in accordance with company procedures, NETA standards, manufacturer recommendations, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare and review service reports, commissioning documentation, test results, and project closeout packages.
  • Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, and company safety requirements.
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and development of junior technicians and field personnel.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree or electrical trade certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with medium voltage electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
  • Proven experience leading field service, commissioning, maintenance, or testing projects.
  • Strong experience with switch gear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, substations, and power distribution equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, relay logic, schematics, and protection diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices including NFPA 70E and LOTO procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer and project sites.
  • Ability to pass background, drug screening, and driving record requirements.
